After kicking off the National League Division Series against the Colorado Rockies with a bullpen day headed by opener Brandon Woodruff, the Brewers have elected to go with a more traditional approach for the first three games of the NLCS.
Gonzalez, who was acquired at the end of August from the Washington Nationals, went 3-0 with a 2.13 ERA and 0.95 WHIP in five September starts with Milwaukee. He was on the NLDS roster but didn't appear in any of the three games.
With one of the more vaunted bullpens in baseball, the Brewers have been quick to turn to their relief corps. Chacin and Miley, who started Games 2 and 3 of the NLDS, respectively, combined for 9 2/3 innings against the Rockies despite allowing no runs between them.
So far, the Dodgers have only announced Clayton Kershaw as their Game 1 starter with the rest of the rotation to be determined.
