D-Backs' Miller hits DL with right elbow inflammation

Shelby Miller's surgically repaired elbow is acting up again.

The Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher was placed on the 10-day disabled list Thursday after experiencing tightness in his right elbow and being forced to leave his Wednesday start after just one inning, the team announced.

"He definitely didn't seem himself," Diamondbacks catcher Alex Avila told AZ Central's Nick Piecoro. "He was kind of struggling to command really anything. I was noticing him grimacing on occasion when he'd throw a pitch. Obviously there was something wrong there."

Miller underwent Tommy John surgery on the same elbow in May 2017.

Wednesday's outing was just his fourth since returning from the surgery.

Since arriving in Arizona following a blockbuster trade with the Atlanta Braves in 2015, Miller has made 28 starts, posting a 5-18 record with a 6.39 ERA.
