Scherzer, Verlander earn Player of the Week honors

Two of baseball's best pitchers received even more accolades Monday.

Houston Astros right-hander Justin Verlander and Washington Nationals ace Max Scherzer were named the Players of the Week for their respective leagues by Major League Baseball.

In the week ending April 15, the former Detroit Tigers teammates were nearly untouchable. Verlander was 1-0 with a 0.60 ERA in 15 innings across two starts, which also included 20 strikeouts.

Scherzer, last season's NL Cy Young winner, went 2-0 with a 1.13 ERA and 21 strikeouts. He even stole a base.
